How do I Open Text Messages on my Samsung Phone?

The Samsung phone differs from other androids in many ways, so opening text messages on your Samsung device can be different from how you’ll normally do on an android phone

For instance in a Samsung phone, if you are sending a picture, it automatically switches to MMS or if your text message is above the character limit, the normal SMS length is 160 characters. This makes it a bit challenging to choose between SMS and MMS.

Since Samsung phones come with the pre-installed Messages app that allows you to send text messages, you might need to check your folder to locate it 

How to Send Text Messages on your Samsung 

Here are the steps you should follow in order to create and send a text message on a Samsung device;

  • Select Messages from the Samsung folder on the main screen, or swipe up to open your apps and select Messages from there.
  • Tap the plus(+) icon and pick the contact you want to send the message to.You can enter the recipient’s phone number directly in the Recipient box if you wish to send a message to someone who is not a contact.
  • Click Done.
  • After typing your message, click the Send icon.

Sending an MMS Message

When adding media to a text message, the message is sent as an MMS, or Multimedia Message. In order to send an MMS, you should follow these steps:

  • Select Messages from the Samsung folder on the main screen, or swipe up to open your apps and select Messages from there.
  • Click the Compose button.
  • The contact you want to message can be chosen by tapping the plus (+) sign.
  • Click Done.
  • By tapping the Picture icon, you can upload a photo from your gallery, snap a new photo with the Camera icon, or attach an existing photo.
  • Tap on the chosen media
  • Click Send

How to Show Text Messages Delivered on your Samsung 

You will need to turn on the settings. This will enable your message to display when it has been delivered or read by the recipient

 To turn this on:

  • Open the Messages app on your device
  • Tap menu (three dots).
  • Click Settings.
  • Tap More settings.
  • Click text messages or Multimedia messages, depending on which you want to turn
  • Slide the toggle to turn on Show when the messages are delivered or Show when read.

The Samsung device is unique and very different from your normal android.
