  • Launch Elcomsoft Cloud Explorer 1.30 (or newer)
  • Tap File – Add Google Snapshot
  • Authenticate into the Google Account by providing your username and password
  • If Two-Factor Authentication is enabled, you will be asked to give a secondary authentication code.
  • Once the authentication is completed, Ensure you select Messages.
  • The software will download the data from the Google Account. This might take a few minutes depending on the number of Android backups stored in that Google Account.
  • Once the download is finished, you’ll be able to see your messages.

Finding Text Messages on your Gmail account

Here’s how to find your Google text messages on Gmail only if you backed them up in your Gmail account:

  • Log in your Google account.
  • Tap on the icon that looks like a flask in the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Scroll down until you see a Text Messaging (SMS) option. Click on the Enable.
  • On the Gmail account, click on the Search button.
  • Enter the name of the contact that you’d love to send a message to. It may also be the number that sent you the message.
