Florida EBT Card Balance: The Department of Children and Families of Florida (DCF) administers the Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as the Food Stamp Program.

SNAP helps low-income households to purchase healthy food through the delivery of monthly food aid benefits. Benefits are provided via a plastic Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card to Florida SNAP recipients.

Florida EBT Payment Schedule

The Florida EBT Card holds the Florida food assistance benefits assigned to you each month. Your benefits will be deposited onto your EBT card according to the schedule below:

Once your benefits are deposited into your account, you can begin using them with your Florida EBT card to purchase eligible food items.

What Can You Buy with Florida Food Stamps/EBT?

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) established guidelines, which administer the food stamps/SNAP program, here is the list of items you are allowed to buy with your EBT Card.

What you CAN buy with EBT Card

Foods for the household to eat, such as:

  • bread and cereals;
  • fruits and vegetables;
  • meats, fish, and poultry; and
  • dairy products.
  • Seeds and plants produce food for the household to eat.

What you Can Not buy with EBT Card

What you CAN/CANNOT buy with EBT Card

  • Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes or tobacco
    Any nonfood items, such as:
  • pet foods
  • soaps, paper products
  • household supplies
  • Vitamins and medicines
  • Food that will be eaten in the store
  • Hot foods

Stores That Take EBT Online for Delivery

As you may know, the U.S. Department of Agriculture ( USDA) has introduced a pilot program (Online Buying Pilot) to encourage selected grocery stores to accept electronic EBT cards for grocery shopping, including delivery to your doorway.

The grocery stores listed below have been approved for the pilot, which will offer EBT cardholders the ability to purchase food for delivery online.

  • Dash’s Market
  • FreshDirect
  • Hart’s Local Grocers
  • Hy-Vee, Inc.
  • Safeway
  • ShopRite
  • Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
  • Wright’s Markets, Inc

How to Check Florida EBT Card Balance

Here’s how to check the balance on your Florida EBT Card Balance.

Option 1 – Check your Last Receipt

The first way to check your balance on the Florida EBT Card is to search your last receipt. This is the simplest and fastest way to place your current balance on your Florida EBT Card.

The balance will be displayed at the bottom of your most recent grocery store or receipt from an ATM. You should get used to keeping your most current EBT receipt, so before you shop, you always have a quick way to check your balance.

Option 2–Login to your Edge EBT Account

The second option to check your EBT Card balance in Florida is online via the ebtEDGE website here. Visit the ebtEDGE website here to log in, and enter your card number.

You will access your current balance and transaction history once you’ve signed in. If you do not have an ebtEDGE account, you can create a User Account.

Option 3 – Check by Phone

The last choice for testing your Florida EBT Card balance is by phone. Call the EBT Customer Service Number at the back of your card (1-888-356-3281).

Hotline Customer Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Type your sixteen (16) digit EBT card number after you call and you can hear your new food assistance or cash account balance(s).

When are my ACCESS Florida benefits deposited into my EBT account?

Benefits are deposited once a day by 6AM on your scheduled deposit date. To find out your benefit deposit date, contact your county office to find out which day you are scheduled to receive your benefits. If the day you receive your benefits for any month falls on a weekend or holiday, your benefits are still available on that day.

Can I purchase alcoholic beverages with my ACCESS Florida EBT Card benefits?

ACCESS Florida EBT cards cannot be used to purchase alcoholic beverages. With that said, EBT cards also cannot be used at ATM or Point of Sale (POS) machines in bars, liquor stores, adult entertainment establishments, or gambling facilities.

How do I use my EBT Card at a Point-of-Sale (POS) or ATM machine?

Follow the instructions provided on the POS/ATM screen. Wait for your receipt. Be sure to check your receipt for accuracy. If the receipt is wrong, tell the cashier right away. Keep your receipt so you will know your balance before you shop the next time. Put your card in a safe place.

If I forgot my Florida EBT Card can I still use my benefits at the grocery store?

You can’t use your food assistance benefits to buy food without your Florida EBT Card and PIN.

Can I use my EBT card in other counties and other states?

Your EBT card will work at any store or ATM that accepts EBT cards in the United States, as well as the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam. There are no rules against using your EBT card outside of your state of residence. However, you are required to report any address change to your local county public assistance office.

Can I have someone else help me shop using my EBT account?

Ask your county food stamps caseworker about setting up an Authorized Representative (AR). The AR will have a separate card with his or her own account number and PIN. The EBT system tracks which card is used. The AR will have access to your entire benefit account.

If you are interested in logging into your My ACCESS account to check your personal account records, get updates on your benefits, and see details on upcoming policy changes or any potential program reductions, follow the instructions below.

You need to log in to your My ACCESS account first. After you have reached the MyACCESS Account website, you must include your username and password to log in. To sign in please click here.

When you forget your username, click on the “Forgotten User Name?” “Link at the bottom left of the login box to get your username retrieved support. You will need the details below.

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Case Number (10 digits)

Likewise, if you’ve forgotten your password, you’ll need to press the “Forgot Password” button at the bottom right of the login. You’ll be taken to another page where you’ll be asked to give your username to get your password back.
