The Best Steakhouses in Jacksonville

Not all steakhouses are created equal, and there are few things worse than a bad steak.

So we figured we’d do our fellow carnivores in North Florida a favor and compile a list of all our favorite steakhouses in Jacksonville.

1. Cowford Chophouse

Cowford Chophouse takes the number one spot on my list for good reason. What was once a bank built in 1902 is now home to some of the best steaks money can buy.

There are very few places in the area that serve A-5 wagyu beef. This delicacy is unlike any other meat on the planet, and it melts in your mouth like butter. They also have a plethora of other cuts available.

Cowford Chophouse is on the corner of East Bay and Ocean Streets, inside the same historic building as the 1904 Music Hall and the Florida Theatre.

2. Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse

Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse is a name you might recognize from one of my previous lists, so you already know it’s a great place to eat, but they do steak like no other. They serve everything in style at Terra Gaucha.

All you have to do is pay a flat fee, sit back, and they will serve you as much steak as you can eat, carved from a massive skewer and served hot off the grill right at your table.

Terra Gaucha is located off Southside Boulevard in the same plaza as Cinemark Tinseltown and XD movie theaters. In Jacksonville, it’s ideal for dinner and a movie.

3. Salento Steakhouse

Following that is Salento Steakhouse, a Colombian restaurant where you can truly relax and enjoy your steak without the frills that some of the more posh establishments provide.

Salento has an abundance of chops. There are so many cuts of meat to choose from that it may take you a minute to decide. I highly recommend the cowboy steak or the Colombian churrasco.

Salento is located inside the Mandarin Central Shopping Center off Old St. Augustine Road, next to the Java Game Haus Cafe and behind the CVS.

4. III Forks Steakhouse

III Forks Steakhouse is priced on the higher end of the spectrum. This place is refined and sophisticated; it is not a place to bring children, but it is ideal for a romantic night out, such as an anniversary.

Everything from USDA Prime to American wagyu steak is available, as well as some specialty cuts such as a bone-in rib eye aged for up to 42 days! You’d be hard-pressed to find a more tender piece of meat than that.

III Forks Steakhouse is located just off Tapestry Park Circle inside the Tapestry Park shopping mall, making it ideal for a nice dinner after a day of shopping.

5. Morton’s The Steakhouse

Morton’s The Steakhouse, located right inside the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront hotel, will truly take your breath away.

Morton’s only serves USDA Prime steak, so every cut is of the highest quality possible. They age them to remove all moisture, resulting in a perfectly seared crust and juicy center.

The atmosphere is also an important part of Morton’s experience. The entire establishment has the vintage feel of an old-school nightclub that is both elegant and inviting.

6. Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse

The next stop is Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse, which is located off Town Center Parkway inside St. Johns Town Center, directly in front of the Hyatt Place Jacksonville / St. Johns Town Center.

This is another upscale churrascaria that serves an all-you-can-eat menu with delicious meats brought to your table and carved at your table. They’re also a salad bar for anyone looking for some vegetables to go with their steak.

There are over ten different cuts of meat to choose from, including picanha, filet mignon, beef ribs, rib eye, and much more. Make sure you arrive on an empty stomach!

7. ChopHouse Thirteen

ChopHouse Thirteen is another excellent choice for steak in Jacksonville, especially if you’re craving surf and turf.

For the ultimate luxury experience, select either the 6-ounce or 8-ounce filet and lobster tail. It is without a doubt my favorite dish on their menu.

Look for ChopHouse Thirteen off San Jose Boulevard inside The Gates of Old Mandarin shopping mall. It is directly across Mandarin Road from the Publix Supermarket at Mandarin Oaks Shopping Center.

8. Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill on Town Center Parkway in Jacksonville is right next to DOMU and MISSION BBQ and has some of the best steaks in the area as well as a fantastic brunch menu.

The wood-fired steaks are just the beginning, but they’re a great place to start. For something a little different, I recommend the bleu cheese filet or the chile-rubbed Delmonico.

You can also add other tasty elements to your steak, such as wood-grilled shrimp, a 12-pound lobster tail, or even a divine brandy peppercorn sauce, which is what I always order.

9. Ruth’s Chris Steak House

A list of Jacksonville’s best steakhouses would be incomplete without mentioning the tried-and-true classic, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, which is ideal for a romantic steak dinner for two or even private dining.

When you walk into this famous steakhouse, you know exactly what you’re getting and you rarely leave disappointed.

The bone-in New York strip and the Prime porterhouse are two of my favorite Ruth’s Chris dishes. It’s usually impossible for me to choose between the two because they’re both so good.

10. Otaki Japanese Steakhouse

Going out to a hibachi restaurant for dinner is one of the most enjoyable ways to spend an evening.

Otaki is conveniently on Gate Parkway, just off East Beltway 295, and directly across from the IKEA store.

This restaurant is fantastic because you can order seafood and steak combinations such as steak and scallops or steak and shrimp, which can be upgraded to filet mignon.

11. The Capital Grille

The Capital Grille is well-known, and for good reason. If you ask me, they are easily one of the best steakhouses near Jacksonville, Florida, and I believe everyone should go here when they are craving steak.

They’re in the St. Johns Town Center, off Big Island Drive, near other great stores like Dillard’s and Nordstrom Rack. A great place to eat after a long day of shopping.

When you arrive at The Capital Grille, make sure to peruse the steak menu; just try not to drop your jaw. My absolute favorite and the most highly recommended dish is the dry-aged New York strip, but the ribeye is a close second.

12. LongHorn Steakhouse

LongHorn Steakhouse, which we all know and love, rounds out our list of steakhouses. This restaurant makes a delicious steak dinner more affordable than some of the other places.

At LongHorn, you can get almost any cut you can think of. They have prime rib, boneless ribeye, bone-in ribeye, porterhouse, T-bone, and many other options.

I’m always torn between the prime rib and the T-bone, but either is delicious.
