About Other State Parks

An Inland Park Passport, at $50 per year, is cheaper… but it only includes the 42 inland state parks. It does not cover admission to Myrtle Beach State Park, Huntington Beach State Park, Charles Towne Landing State Park Historic Site, Edisto Beach State Park, or Hunting Island State Park.

Fortunately, Palmetto Passports provide 50% off the regular Carolina State Parks Pass price for senior citizens (age 65+), legally blind, and 100% disabled residents of South Carolina.

You can purchase a Palmetto Passport at any one of the South Carolina State Parks,  as long as you can prove your eligibility. These special passes must be renewed every year.

To use a Palmetto Passport, the qualifying individual must be present. However, everyone in the vehicle will receive FREE admission to the park!

If you are eligible for a Palmetto Passport, you can also receive 35% off admission, camping, picnic shelters, golf and fishing pier admission.

Unfortunately, there are no discounts available for lodging, building or facility rentals, resale items, or equipment rentals.

Out-of-state senior citizens, blind and disabled citizens can also receive those discounts (except the annual Palmetto Passport) at Baker Creek State Park, Calhoun Falls State Park, Hamilton Branch State Park, Hickory Knob State Park, Lake Hartwell State Park, and Sadlers Creek State Park.

Carolina State Parks FAQs

FAQs

1. Can I drink alcohol in a state park?

It is against park rules to drink or display an alcoholic beverage in a public place at any time. All outdoor areas are public in a state park. Also, we cannot sell alcoholic beverages within a state park.

2. Can I ride my bike in state parks?

Almost all state parks offer road or mountain biking, or both! Many parks have long stretches of road (some winding and hilly). Many of our parks have multiuse trails.

3. Can I fly a drone or other remote control aircraft in a state park?

Two parks offer zones for flying remote controlled aircraft (including drones): San Angelo and Martin Dies, Jr. You can request a filming permit for your craft at any park by contacting that park. Allow several weeks for us to review your request.

Besides covering your day use fees for a year, your South Carolina State Parks Pass also gets you a few nights of discounted camping, as well as discounts in park gift shops or for equipment rentals in some parks.
