Infinity Insurance Review 2022: Does it Fit Your Needs?
– Infinity Insurance –
Infinity Insurance offers a unique suite of products to present more choices and meet your individual needs with outstanding service. This article dives deep into the offers guaranteed by Infinity Insurance.
Initially, Infinity auto insurance was only offered in four states but now has grown to serve 43. With the rise in popularity, one has to wonder if Infinity car insurance provides the coverage needed to have peace of mind.
Because we have already done research into the top insurance providers, we feel comfortable telling you what we found regarding Infinity.
About Infinity
Infinity was founded in 1955 as the Dixie Insurance Company in Anniston, Alabama. In 1991, it was purchased by the Pennsylvania Company, and a few years later the company merged with American Financial Corporation to form the American Financial Group (AFG).
Infinity became independent again in 2002 when AFG sold off all stock to the new Infinity Property & Casualty Corporation. By 2003, Infinity became a publicly-traded company with its listing on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange.
It was acquired by Kemper Insurance company, a nonstandard insurer and the 13th largest car insurance company in the nation, in July 2018.
Today, Infinity is one of the largest nonstandard insurers in the nation with nearly 13,000 independent agents. It ranks in the top 50 property and casualty insurance companies in the country.
Infinity is a sponsor of the bilingual literacy program called “Conmigo,” which encourages families to read together. It has built a reputation as a top insurer amongst Hispanics, with services available in Spanish.

Infinity Car Insurance Coverage

Infinity provides standard insurance policies, like most other companies. There are a few policies that are unique in comparison. The company prides itself on being a non-standard insurer as well.
These policies are meant for people with a bad driving record or poor credit. The company even has policies for those that don’t own a car but still want to drive. This plan is known as non-owners insurance.
In addition to the typical coverage options, here are some other plans you can choose.
Benefit | Details |
---|---|
DriverClub | Roadside assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This plan is free until you use it, then you simply pay for the discounted services as needed. Coverage applies even when you are a passenger in another vehicle. |

Provides auto insurance for high-risk drivers
If you have been behind the wheel in an accident, have filed one too many claims in the past, or drive a vehicle with a poor safety rating, it may be hard to find affordable auto insurance — or any auto insurance at all.
That’s where “nonstandard insurers” like Infinity come into play. Infinity has cornered the market insuring high-risk drivers; it’s actually the “second-largest writer” for these kinds of policies, according to the company’s website.
However, Infinity might not be the cheapest bet for riskier drivers. According to insurance analysis site ValuePenguin, Infinity’s rates can be up to twice as high as other nonstandard insurers like Western General, Mercury, and Nationwide.
We recommend comparing quotes from as many of these nonstandard insurers as you can to make sure you’re finding not only the most accessible coverage but the most affordable as well.
Roadside assistance membership included
All Infinity auto insurance policies come with a free membership to the company’s roadside assistance program, Infinity DriverClub.
This means policyholders have access to 24/7 roadside assistance without having to pay dues to a separate association, like AAA, which can cost between $50 and $200 per year.
Just keep in mind: Only membership to Infinity’s roadside assistance comes free. Customers still have to pay for all services used (no complimentary jump starts or battery testing).
Online resources available in Spanish
All of Infinity’s online resources are available in both Spanish and English, which is a nice nod to the United States’ ever-growing Hispanic population.
Infinity is one of the only insurers we’ve seen with this accommodation (though others do staff bilingual agents and customer service reps to make insurance shopping easier for people who speak limited English).
Still, Infinity is not one of our top recommendations for auto insurance and shouldn’t be chosen for this fact alone. In-depth Spanish-language reviews of the nation’s top auto insurers can be found here.

Infinity Car Insurance Claims Process
Nobody looks forward to filing a claim, but it happens. That’s why it’s important to research the insurance company’s claims process ahead of time to determine if your needs will be met.
Infinity asserts that it is simple to file a claim online or over the phone. Plus, you can view open claims through the website to track the progress.
The company does provide a list of preferred auto repair shops but doesn’t offer any incentive to use one as some other providers do.
Infinity Discounts & Fees
Compared to other major auto insurers, we found that Infinity does not offer many discount options, and the amount of these discounts varies by coverage as well as the driver’s state of residence.
Find the table of discount details below; below it, you will also find a table of Infinity policy fees, such as the cost of adding an SR-22 and reinstatement fee.

While Infinity insures higher-risk drivers at lower-than-standard rates, there are established fees that apply when the insured driver’s lapse on payments, require a SR22, and under other circumstances.
