How to Manage the Clipboard Folder on Android Systems

It’s a bare-bones clipboard function that is activated when you press and hold on to the text you want to copy. Here is how to use the clipboard feature on Android.

How to Access the Clipboard Folder In Android

In most of the cases, we are talking about the text you copy that you would want to paste somewhere else. Where Is The Clipboard Folder In Android?

On stock Android, there’s no real way to access and view the clipboard folder. You only have the option of long-pressing in a text field and choosing Paste to see what’s on your clipboard.

However, if you have a Samsung or other Android device, you can take advantage of manufacturer customizations to access your clipboard more easily.

On a Samsung device, for example, you’ll see a Clipboard bubble appear when you long-press on a text field.

Tap it, and you can access the last several items you’ve copied. If you use the Samsung Keyboard, you can tap the arrow on the top-right side to access additional functions.

Tap Clipboard and you can access this same panel of recently copied items.

How to Retrieve Items on Your Clipboard for Android

Android can cut, copy and paste text, and like a computer, the operating system transfers the data to the clipboard.

Unless you use an app or extension like Clipper or aNdClip to retain your clipboard history, however, once you copy new data to the clipboard, the old information is lost.

  • Launch the target application that you want to transfer the contents of the clipboard to. Select the appropriate text field.
  • Press and hold down the text area until a dialog box appears.
  • Press “Paste” to retrieve the data from your clipboard.

Using Google Keyboard to Manage Clipboard

If you’re using Gboard, you do not need to rely on any 3rd party app to manage your clipboard. Simply, grab the Gboard app from the Play Store.

Once you have it installed, simply access the keyboard while using a messenger and take a look at the screenshot below as a reference.

As you can see in the image above, you need to press the menu icon (three-dotted icon) to access more options for Gboard.

Once there, you can notice a “Clipboard” option. Just tap on it.

For the first time, you will be asked to enable the clipboard. But, once you turn it on, you can easily see your clipboard history after you copy a text.

We would recommend you to go for this, instead of 3rd party clipboard managers.

However, if you do not trust Google (or for some reason you don’t use the Gboard keyboard app), you can follow the solution below.

How to Clear Your Android Clipboard

If you’re using the Clipper Clipboard Manager, you’ll notice when you select the three dots to the right of a selection, there’s a Delete option. Use this to clear out those clipboard items.

Open the messaging app on your Android, and press the + symbol to the left of the text field.

1. The Plus Sign

Select the keyboard icon. When the keyboard appears, select the > symbol at the top. Here, you can tap the clipboard icon to open the Android clipboard.

If you’ve never used the clipboard before on your phone, you’ll see a notification to turn on the Gboard clipboard. To do so, tap Turn on the clipboard.

2. The “Turn on Clipboard” Button

With the clipboard on, any time you copy something to the clipboard and then tap the clipboard on the Google Android keyboard again, you’ll see a history of all recent items you’ve added.

3. Screenshot of the Gboard \Clipboard

To delete any of these items from the clipboard, first tap the edit icon.

4. The Edit Icon

Select each item you want to delete and tap the trash icon to delete them.

5. The Trash Icon

The clipboard manager that comes with your built-in keyboard app depends largely on the version and brand of your Android phone.

For example, the Samsung Keyboard features a clipboard manager tool as well. The keyboard is typically the primary way to access and manage your clipboard without an app.
