It is understandable to want to set up your Google messages for the web to enable sending and receiving of texts easily without necessarily needing your phone.

Many times our phones can be far away from us, but we still need to keep the communication going, especially when we need to attend to our client’s needs or just interact with our loved ones.

How to Access the QR code

The QR code always pops up when you are trying to link your cellphone to your computer. In the case of Google messages, the code would show when you are trying to set up messages for the web.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Open your browser on the computer and enter messages.android.com into the address bar.
  • On your android device, open the messages app and click on the menu button(top-right corner) then choose Messages for web > Scan QR Code.
  • Point your camera toward the QR code on your computer’s screen.

How to use Andriod Messages for Web

When your phone is connected to a web browser, using Messages for web is similar to using any other messaging app.

You can start new conversations and still continue with the existing ones because all of your communications are synced.

Here are a few tips for getting the most out of Messages for web:

  • If you want to use this browser regularly for texting, you can always let the Messages for web remember this web browser.
  • To do this,  turn on “Remember this computer” by swiping the button to the right under the QR code, or click “Yes” in the “Remember this Computer?” pop-up window on the Messages page. 
  • You can use a variety of settings to enhance your web messaging experience. To see them all, select “Settings” from the three-dot menu in the pane on the left side of the page.
  • To archive, delete, block, or mute a conversation, hover the mouse over a chat in the pane on the left and click the three-dot menu that appears, then choose the option you want from the pop-up menu. 

Only one web browser at a time can be synced with the messaging app on your phone.

For instance, the service will pause on the first computer and show a pop-up window you can use to regain control if you connect to Messages for Web on a different device.

To do that, click “Use here,” and the second browser’s Messages for Web will be disabled.
