Can You Return Items From Nordstrom to Nordstrom Rack?
Have you ever purchased something from a store only to discover that it is stained or otherwise damaged? If this happened to you at Nordstrom, you may have wondered, “Can I return Nordstrom items to Nordstrom Rack?”
All About Nordstrom
Nordstrom, Inc. is a leading retailer of clothing, shoes, and accessories for men, women, and children.
Nordstrom’s exceptional customer service stems primarily from two factors:
First, their attention to detail in terms of the customer experience.
And second, the extent to which they empower their employees.
This question of brand segments will become more important as more department stores launch their own discount and off-price chains.
(including discount stores like Kohl’s)
For example, you can order from the Old Navy and Banana Republic, the Gap family’s high and low-end brands.
Put them in a single virtual cart and pay a single shipping charge.
However, you cannot return items purchased at a Gap store to an Old Navy store.
Nor can you return items purchased at any of the brands’ respective “factory stores” or outlets to the regular store.
But what about Nordstrom?

Return Policy at Nordstrom
You can return items purchased at Nordstrom Rack to a regular Nordstrom store.
There are no time limits or highlighted restrictions in the Nordstrom returns policy.
But Nordstrom reserves the right to handle returns on a “case-by-case basis.”
If you have removed the tags from special occasion dresses and designer items, they may not be returnable.
Nordstrom returns are free within the United States.
But international orders are not eligible for free returns or merchandise exchanges.
They will deduct return shipping and handling fees from your refund if you are an international customer returning an item to Nordstorm.
The original shipping costs are not refundable.
This ensures that you do not abuse the policy, and they may keep a log to keep track of who is returning what.
This easily qualifies it as one of the friendliest return policies we’ve encountered.
Returning an Item to Nordstrom Rack
If they dissatisfy you with your Nordstrom Rack purchase, you may return it by mail or to your nearest Nordstrom Rack store.
Do it within 45 days of the original shipping date.
Returns received after the 45-day return period may be accepted, but only for a 50% refund of the original purchase price.
If you return your item by mail, use the shipping label provided.
They will deduct a fee of $5.95 from your refund to cover shipping costs.
You must return the items in their original packaging, including hangers, hang tags, etc.
And you must not wear, alter, or damage them.
They will credit returns that are eligible to the original payment method or a gift card.
What Should I Do If I Don’t Have My Receipt?
Don’t worry if you misplaced your receipt; you can still return it.
Having your receipt or order number can help you find the purchase information faster.
But not having it isn’t the worst-case scenario.
While it is usually faster if you have your receipt with you, they are also very helpful if you have lost it.
If you return an item without a receipt, Nordstrom will look up the purchase in their system but may ask for more information.
If there is no record of the sale and Nordstrom decides to accept the return, they will require your ID to process the return.
The refund will be in the form of a gift card.
